Townsville Prosthesis Reimbursement

If you live in the Townsville district and you are a holder of one of the following Centrelink or Senior's cards (Pensioner Health Benefits Cards, Health Care Card, Health Care Interim Voucher, Health Benefits Card, Child Disability Allowance, Seniors Card) you may be elibigle for the full amount of an external Breast Prosthesis through the Townsville General Hospital. Ladies having the first prosthetic fitting after a mastectomy, and are eligible, will receive the Breast Prosthesis and a mastectomy bra fitted by a Figgers Bra Stylist for free. A Medical Certificate is needed for the first fitting. If you have had your surgery in a Private Hospital, you will need to contact the BreastScreen Nurses Cathy or Linda on 4796 3341 and they will help with the paperwork. Going on from there, every 2 years you will be eligible to receive a Breast Prosthesis for free and the Figgers ladies will be able to help with the relevant paperwork.

 

When you are ready for a fitting, please phone our Figgers Castletown store to make an appointment on 4724 5524. The Application for Assistance forms can be provided from our Figgers Castletown store and has to be filled out each time you require a Breast Prosthesis. Figgers issue the Prosthesis once the approval has come through from the Hospital which can take up to 6 weeks.

 

If you do not hold any of the above mentioned Health Card cards, you will need to go through the Medicare Reimbusement Program for your purchase of an External Breast Prosthesis. Please make an appointment with a Figgers Bra Stylist to help you with your needs.
